Boots The Chemist Own Brand Skin Care: REVIEW!

A few months back I uploaded a post detailing my skin care routine and reviewing the products that I use. Since then I decided to find slightly cheaper alternatives of certain products from my old routine. One day while shopping for my favorite No7 eye cream (which is only sold at boots) I decided to try out some of their skincare ranges such a Botanics and Boots Clear Skin Range.

Botanics Skincare

What I noticed about the Botanics range is that it's all made from natural organic products and doesn't contain any harsh chemicals or fragrances which is great as I have sensitive and acne prone skin. The best part is it isn't tested on animals which is a big deal for me as I am against animal testing and animal cruelty.

The Botanics range has its own little skincare groups such as the All Bright line,Youthful line and the Calming line. I purchased three products from the All Bright line this is because all products from this line contain natural lighting properties extracted from plants which helps with acne scars and dark spots on the skin. The All Bright line's main ingredient is Hibiscus which is a natural brightening property!

Botanics All Bright Purifying Face Scrub:

I love the ingredients that are in this scrub especially the fact that it contains apricot which is great for sweeping away impurities. It also has brightening properties! I dampen my face with warm water and in slow small circular motions I work it into my skin, my face doesn't irritated and the scrub doesn't feel harsh on my skin, as some scrubs can feel as if they are scratching away at your face. The product gently exfoliates the skin removing dead skin cells and fighting impurities without irritating or dehydrating the skin. After washing the scrub off my face felt smooth and fresh. I use this scrub twice a week and I have noticed over a couple of weeks my skin feels smother and looks brighter! Most importantly it helps speed up the process of eliminating small hormonal breakouts that I get from time to time.

Botanics All Bright Cleansing Toner:

Iv been using the toner after cleansing and I really love how it smells! Some toners have a burning sensation when applied to my skin as my skin is quite sensitive. Most of the time I would have to use either Olay's toner or The Body Shop's calming aloe toner. Thankfully the All Bright toner doesn't irritate my skin due to its natural ingredients. I add 3 or 4 drops to a cotton pad and gently wipe in upward motions along my face with the pad, my skin instantly feels rehydrated. Some toners take forever to absorb into the skin however, the All Bright Cleansing Toner adheres pretty quickly. As its a Cleansing Toner it not only re balances the skins PHD levels but it subtly cleanses the skin too which is great for ensuring all makeup residue is gone as some cleansers don't always remove everything. From the first use my skin looked brighter and more awakened and my pores where visibly smaller.

Botanics All Bright Hydrating Day Cream:

Now this could possibly be in my top 5 favorite moisturizers! I love the products creamy consistancy and how easily it applys to the skin. I apply the moisturizer after cleansing, exfoliating and toning my face, I apply the product in an upward motion and I don't completely buff it into the skin I allow to sit onto the skin and naturally absorb. Iv been using this moisturizer for a few weeks now and Iv notice some of the post acne scaring on the sides of my face look less apparent and more brighter. My skin is left with a luminous glow and is hydrated all day! It smells great too! However, the only reservation I have about the All Bright Day Moisturizer is its packaging it is in a tub and personally I prefer pump bottles as I find it more hygienic. Other than that I really like this product and it doesn't break me out at all!

Boots Tea Tree & Witch Hazel

I cannot stress enough how important these two ingredients are in treating breakouts and keeping them away! I use The Body Shop Tea Tree Foam Cleanser and it has been my holy grail when curing my acne! I was really excited when I saw Boots had a range that contained both Witch Hazel and Tea Tree I just had to try this line! I bought two products from this line.

Boots Tea Tree & Witch Hazel Foaming Cleanser:

must be honest and say the first week of using this product I experienced small breakouts on my forehead but I think this was due to my skin being so used to my current cleanser it had to go through a period of adjustment with this new one. After a week the breakouts quickly dissapeard and my small hormonal breakouts that occur on my period where becoming less and less and dissapearing at a faster rate! This cleanser smells so good it reminds me of a men's fragrance or after shave. My skin looks and feels fresher after every use! It works efficiently when removing left over makeup that my makeup wipes didn't successfully eliminate and doesn't dry out my skin. You only need two pumps of this product for your whole face, a little goes a long way with this product I use it with my Olay Cleansing face brush.

Boots Tea Tree & Witch Hazel Peel Off Face Mask:

This just like the cleanser also smells really good! I use this face mask once a week it gives the skin a deep clean, lifiting unwanted oils and dirt out of the skins pores, it's always good for lifting out blackheads although Iv never had issues with blackheads but my brother sometimes gets them on his nose and this mask dramatically removed most of them the first time he applied the product! I leave the mask on for roughly 15 minutes and gently peel off, peeling this mask off doesn't hurt! Although it isn't as good as Lush's Cosmetic Warrior which is my fav! But it does come close and I reccomend this to anyone with mild breakouts who are looking for a cheaper alternative.

Boots Tea Tree & Witch Hazel Peel Off Face Mask priced at £0.99

I have really been impressed with these products, I have never used Boots's own brand before and I must say I'm glad I tried them out and they have earned themselves a place in my skincare routine! I hope this review has helped those who are looking for new skin care lines to help fight breakouts or assist in the acne scaring healing process
